Dr. Ilana Lewis (she/her)

Naturopathic & Functional Medicine Doctor

My journey to naturopathic medicine has been profoundly shaped by my own health challenges, which ultimately led me to become a compassionate and thorough practitioner. Initially, I was on the path to becoming an MD, and I earned my Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from UCLA. However, my 20s were marked by persistent, complex health issues that conventional medicine couldn’t explain. Despite my proactive approach and consultations with numerous specialists, I was often told that “nothing was wrong.” Over time, this experience began to feel isolating and disheartening.

My perspective shifted when I found a holistic practitioner who truly listened, validated my experience, and approached my case with empathy.

This encounter transformed my health and inspired me to pursue naturopathic medicine, with its focus on root-cause healing. I went on to attend the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where I earned my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine.

Throughout my training, I developed a focus on gut health, functional gastrointestinal disorders, and complex chronic illness, including mold toxicity, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and chronic infections. I also expanded my skills with advanced modalities such as IV nutrient infusions, neural injection therapy, and applied kinesiology.

In my practice, I am dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive environment where patients feel genuinely heard and empowered. I tailor each treatment plan to the unique needs of each patient, working closely with them to ensure they are active participants in their healing journey. My approach centers on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of illness, giving patients the knowledge and tools they need to reclaim their health and live fully.

I am a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), the California Naturopathic Doctors Association (CNDA), and the Gastroenterology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (GastroANP). As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am passionate about creating an inclusive and affirming space where queer patients feel supported in their care.
